Well, it did not take long for the Dems to start preparing to enforce their Iraq Policy, which appears to be "Cut and Run!"
Democratic leaders in the Senate vowed Sunday to use their new congressional majority to press for troop reductions in Iraq within a matter of months, stepping up pressure on the administration just as President Bush is to be interviewed by a bipartisan panel examining future strategy for the war.
The Democrats — the incoming majority leader, Sen. Harry Reid, of Nevada; the incoming Armed Services Committee chairman, Sen. Carl Levin, of Michigan; and the incoming Foreign Relations Committee chairman, Sen. Joseph Biden, of Delaware — said that a phased redeployment of troops would be their top priority when the new Congress convenes in January, even before investigating the conduct of the war.
The Democrats have been saying for a long time now that our troops are not as good as the Insurgents and have wanted to pull out. Now I know what you are asking, when did the Democrats say that our soldiers were inferior to the Insurgents? Well, they did not say those specific words but every time they say we are loosing or that we cannot win this war that is essentially what they are saying. How else do we take it? What do you think our soldiers think when they hear it?
We can and must win this war, my fear is that the Democrats will do loose it for us, which is what the terrorist want.
Al-Qaida released an audio tape claiming that they are winning the war faster than expected.
On the audio tape made available on militant Web sites, the al-Qaida in Iraq leader also welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He added that the group's fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.
I am sure that Nancy Pelosi will and the Democrats have a great plan for dealing with these terrorists. I know that we have not yet heard that plan, but I am sure that it is a good one. Soon after they raise our taxes and stop the wire tapping of the terrorists and all of the other important things that they need to do they will let us in on their plan. Who knows, now we may be able to attain world peace.
Well tomorrow is the big day and we will finally know if Al-Qaeda will be celebrating a Democrat victory or if they will they be forced to stay on the run. Well if you listen to the polls and main stream media then it is a lock for the Democrats. So how accurate are these polls? Well it depends...
One interesting feature is that a margin of zero (a tied poll) produces a 50-50 split in wins with remarkable accuracy. There is nothing I did statistically to force the black trend line to go through the "crosshairs" at the (0, .5) point in the graph, but it comes awfully close. So a tied poll really does predict a coin-flip outcome.
The probability of a win rises or falls rapidly as the polls move away from a margin of zero. By the time we see a 10 point lead in the poll for the Dem, about 90% of the Dems win. When we see a 10 point margin for the Rep, about 90% of Reps win. That symmetry is also not something I forced with the statistics-- it represents the simple and symmetric pattern in the data.
More practically, it means that polls rarely miss the winner with a 10 point lead, but they DO miss it 10% of the time.
A 5 point lead, on the other hand, turns out to be right only about 60-65% of the time. So bet on a candidate with a 5 point lead, but don't give odds. And for 1 or 2 point leads (as in some of our closer races tomorrow) the polls are only barely better than 50% right in picking the winner. That should be a sobering thought to those enthused by a narrow lead in the polls. Quite a few of those "leaders" will lose. Of course, an equal proportion of those trailing in the polls will win.
So read the polls-- they are a lot better than nothing. But don't take that 2 point lead to the bank. That is a failure to appreciate the practical consequences of the margin for error.
The good news is after tomorrow we will not have to listen to anymore polls, at least for a while.
Kerry is a moron, he has the audacity to say this:
You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.
So is he saying that only stupid people join the military or that you are stupid if you join the military? Either way he is an idiot.
You can see the video of him inserting his fat foot in his mouth here.
And to think, a lot of people actually voted for this guy. Good job Democrats, you guys sure know how to pick your leaders.
Good news is bad news for the Democrats who are trying to take back control of Congress. The "mainstream" media is pretty upset about this news as well.
Oops. Back in 2004, then-ABC White House correspondent Terry Moran argued President Bush’s tax cuts were building debt, not prosperity: “Most experts say that making those tax cuts permanent would cause gigantic deficits virtually as far as the eye can see.” Early last year, CBS’s Bob Schieffer suggested it would be impossible for the federal budget deficit to be cut in half before 2009 without raising taxes: “The government has just got to find some money to finance these programs.”
Well, the tax cuts haven’t been repealed, and there have been no big new tax increases. But yesterday the White House announced that final tallies for the federal government’s fiscal year ending September 30, 2006, the budget deficit had shrunk from $413 billion two years ago to $248 billion. The federal government collected $2.407 trillion in taxes in FY2006, $122 billion more than originally forecast back in February.
What a concept, let Americans keep their hard earned money and let them spend it instead of letting the governemnt take it and waste it.
I do not know how else to explain it but to say that the Dems are clueless when it comes to foreign policy. I read here and here where the blame for the problem with North Korea is President Bush’s fault for calling North Korea the Axis of Evil! Give me a break! For some reason the Democrat leadership believes that if Bush would have just spoken to North Korea in direct talks that all of this could have been resolved. These are the same Democrats that say we should always get the WORLD involved to solve problems, then when Bush does that and it fails then we should have just engaged in direct talks. More of the same old crap!
But here is the thing, I do not understand how this is President Bush’s fault that we are in this situation with North
Korea. He did not give them the means to build the weapons and they were making them long before he took office. His only crime was speaking the truth. North Korea is evil! How can anyone claim that they aren’t? They are literally starving their people, they have always been a rogue nation that has been lead by lunitics. But just for grins, let’s look at the timeline of events.1969: North Korean soldiers cross the border and kill 4 soldiers of 3d Battalion, 23rd Infantry
1976: 18 August, North Korea crosses the border and uses axes to kill 2 US Service men.
1985: North Korea ratified the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
1993: North Korea says they will withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty
1994: Clinton with his home boy Jimmy “Peanut” Carter work a deal with Korea. The deal is this; North Korea pledges to freeze and dismantle its nuclear weapons program, the U.S. agrees to give North Korea everything they need to build the nuclear plants as well as supply 500,000 metric tons of fuel annually!
1999: Since North Korea has behaved so well Clinton agrees to ease economic sanctions against North Korea.
2000: In July North Korea is upset because their nuclear reactors have been delayed and not complete (we now know because they were using it to make weapons not power) and threatens to restart their nuclear program if Washington does not compensate them for their power losses.
2001: A year later it is reported the North Korea is developing long range missiles.
2001: In December Bush warns North Korea about building weapons of Mass Destruction.
Jan 29, 2001: Bush calls North Korea, Iran and Iraq the “Axis of evil”. (I wonder what would cause anyone to come to that conclusion?)
2005: North Korea publicly declared that it possessed nuclear weapons and pulled out of the six-party talks hosted by China to find a diplomatic solution to the issue.
The rest is history. Now we are where we are and I doubt that the comments by President Bush are the reason we are in this mess now.
