How long does it take for America to realize that putting Democrats in charge of Congress is a mistake? Turns out not that long. The bonehead Democrats really do not have a clue at what to do except rename buildings and try to allow illegals into the country. What do the people think of all their "hard work" that they have been doing? Not too much.
Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.
This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.
The good news is that Americans still have a lot of confidence in the Military, unlike the Democrats that keep claiming that we have lost the war in Iraq or that we cannot win in Iraq.
Congress is now nestled at the bottom of the list of Gallup's annual Confidence in Institutions rankings, along with HMOs. Just 15% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in HMOs. I am sure that the Democrats in Congress account for a large amount of that 31% remaining that do not have a great deal of confidence in our military.
PORTLAND, Ore. - The echo of a 21-gun salute and bugler playing Taps seemingly marked the end of an era as a state and national treasure was laid to rest in Portland, Ore., March 2.
Retired Army Cpl. Howard V. Ramsey, Oregon's last living World War I veteran and the last known U.S. combat veteran of WWI, died in his sleep Feb. 22 at an assisted living center in southeast Portland. He was honored in a memorial service attended by nearly 200 people at Lincoln Memorial Park exactly one month before reaching his 109th birthday.

1/29/2007 - SAN ANTONIO (AFNEWS) -- An aircraft carrier that sparked the spirits of a nation following the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor during the dark, early days of World War II has become the namesake of the world's most technologically advanced rehabilitation center for amputees and burn victims unveiled during an emotional-packed ceremony here on Monday.
The Center for the Intrepid, a four-story, 65,000 square-foot facility adjacent to Brooke Army Medical Center and two new Fisher Houses were officially opened during a two-hour dedication ceremony.

When I was overseas in the first Gulf War there was nothing better then getting mail or a care package from home. If you would like to brighten a soldier's day then you can send them a package and now that has gotten easier.
Just in time for the holidays, Operation Homefront has launched “eCarePackage,” an online service that allows caring citizens to send care packages to deployed troops and their families. Operation Homefront is part of CinCHouse.com, a community for military wives, and is a team member of America Supports You, a Department of Defense program connecting U.S. citizens with members of the military.
Servicemembers and families can register on www.ecarepackage.org, which protects their identity and location, and visitors can “adopt” them based on common interests. Then visitors select individual items to create a customized care package for their chosen servicemember or family and include a personal message.
Operation Homefront’s team of volunteers takes the order, boxes the selected items and ships them directly to the servicemember or family – always protecting their identity and physical location.

The military does not seem to agree with the Democrats.
The top U.S. commander in the Middle East warned Congress Wednesday against setting a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, saying it would impede commanders in managing U.S. and Iraqi forces.
The assertion by Gen. John Abizaid seemed to put him at odds with some Democrats pressing the Bush administration to begin pulling out of Iraq.
But that is just a General speaking and we know that since he is in the military and stuck in Iraq he is probably not very smart, at least according to Mr. Kerry.
General Abizaid contends that specific timetables limits our flexibility.
In arguing against a timetable for troop withdrawals, Abizaid told the committee that he and other U.S. commanders need flexibility in managing U.S. forces and determining how and when to pass on responsibility to Iraqi forces.
"Specific timetables limit that flexibility," the general said.
But an enlightened, well educated Democrat Senator explained how the General is wrong.
Reflecting the division of opinion on how to proceed in Iraq, the next chairman of the committee said the administration must tell Iraq that U.S. troops will begin withdrawing in four to six months in order to force them to take responsibility for their own future.
"We cannot save the Iraqis from themselves. The only way for Iraqi leaders to squarely face that reality is for President Bush to tell them that the United States will begin a phased redeployment of our forces within four to six months," said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.
I may not be the smartest guy in the world so I sometimes rely on advice from others. In a case like this I will take the General's advice, since most politicians lack any real common sense.
Well, it did not take long for the Dems to start preparing to enforce their Iraq Policy, which appears to be "Cut and Run!"
Democratic leaders in the Senate vowed Sunday to use their new congressional majority to press for troop reductions in Iraq within a matter of months, stepping up pressure on the administration just as President Bush is to be interviewed by a bipartisan panel examining future strategy for the war.
The Democrats — the incoming majority leader, Sen. Harry Reid, of Nevada; the incoming Armed Services Committee chairman, Sen. Carl Levin, of Michigan; and the incoming Foreign Relations Committee chairman, Sen. Joseph Biden, of Delaware — said that a phased redeployment of troops would be their top priority when the new Congress convenes in January, even before investigating the conduct of the war.
The Democrats have been saying for a long time now that our troops are not as good as the Insurgents and have wanted to pull out. Now I know what you are asking, when did the Democrats say that our soldiers were inferior to the Insurgents? Well, they did not say those specific words but every time they say we are loosing or that we cannot win this war that is essentially what they are saying. How else do we take it? What do you think our soldiers think when they hear it?
We can and must win this war, my fear is that the Democrats will do loose it for us, which is what the terrorist want.
The Department of veterans is encouraging all Veterans to wear their medals this Veterans Day.
There’s a new dress code for Veterans Day this year.
Officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs are encouraging all former servicemembers to dust off their medals and wear them next month as a show of pride and patriotism.
“You don’t have to put them on only if you’re in a parade,” said VA Secretary Jim Nicholson. “Wear them when you go play golf. Wear them when you go to the store. Let America know that you took that oath and served.”
The idea is based on celebrations in countries such as Australia, where veterans and their family members routinely display their medals on national holidays.
Veterans organizations embraced Wednesday’s announcement.
I decided that instead of wearing mine that I would display them here on my Vox blog. It may not be the same thing as wearing them but since I will be in the office working most of the day tomorrow chances are they will be seen more here then on my shirt. Besides, I do not have them all to wear if I wanted to.

The Price of Freedom
No one likes war, least of all me. Being personal friends of the Bush family, I can assure you they don't like it either.
We all felt the same when we heard about the 100-plus troops who have died in Iraq in just the past month. One is always too many.
Each of them has a family left behind – those who will suffer over the holidays and beyond because of the bravery of their loved ones.
I do understand their pain, every time I think about my brother, Wieland, who also paid the ultimate price in Vietnam. I'll never forget when I received the news. I miss him still, all the time.
My brother fought a foreign war, as many of our service members do today. I refuse to believe that he died in vain. I also refuse to believe those 100 souls (plus the hundreds previously) did as well.
Their sacrifice makes me think of Jesus' words, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.'' I'm assuming that includes world friends and neighbors too.
Ok, after this I will let it go but I just had to post both of these first.
The first picture I saw on Mike's blog and then later on Fox News where they confirmed that it is real. It just goes to show you that our soldiers do hear what our politicians say. Kerry and the rest of the Democrats should try and remember that.

Dear Senator Kerry,
We have not yet met, but I feel moved now to write you, in view of the latest assault on your honor, and the cruel blows being dealt you by fate. Your life has been hell since the last election, when those hanging chads in Ohio tricked all those people into voting for Buchanan, or Nader; and the fact that you lost the rest of the country by 3 million votes proved that the fraud had been everywhere. And before that were those baseless attacks by those 200-some veterans, paid off by Karl Rove in l970, on the chance that 34 years later he'd be running George W. Bush for president and needed to soften you up. Everyone knows they had no case whatsoever (beyond the fact you were calling them rapists and killers), just as everyone knows how tasteless it is to mock your lifestyle. Everyone knows how hard you work for your money, how much you deserve it, and how hard to must be to find not one, but two women with quite so much dough. (If you were only a woman, people would see your story as the fairy tale it is.)
Even worse, it is mean, false, and mendacious to say that you were trying to call our brave men in Iraq and in uniform mentally challenged, when it was clear as day that you meant this to apply to the president, who ran rings around you when you last met in electoral combat; and whose grades in college were higher than yours.
I would encourage you to read the whole letter.
